This photo shows the cockpit of a Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar. This plane was developed as a military transport aircraft with its first flight being made in 1947. These planes saw extensive action in the Korean and Vietnam wars as they were mainly used to carry cargo and troops for the U.S. military. The C-119 is known as the “Flying Boxcar” due to the fact that these impressive aircraft were able to hold the same weight as a railroad boxcar.

Photograph by Joseph Tointon. This was taken in Jökulsárlón, Iceland and captures the moment immediately after an iceberg flipped. This deep blue color is unlike anything else in the natural world, and results from densely concentrated, unoxygenated ice absorbing red light and reflecting blue.

These two cowboys are discussing a plan of action before they drive a herd of cattle from one pasture to another on a ranch in Northern Colorado. With the help of their dog, these ranchers are able to move hundreds of cattle miles down the road in order to find better grazing. This activity is essential to the success of the ranch as these cowboys must make sure their livestock are getting enough to eat so they can be sold for beef production. This image shows how some traditional aspects of the American West are still alive and well today. (Taken in 2018 on Tointon Ranches, located outside of Walden, Colorado)
